Born 1965, in Salford, Manchester. During my younger years art was never really a big part of my life. I was far more musical rather than arty, a passion I still have to this day, if I’m not painting I’m playing guitar, creativity is a way of expression for me, be it art or music. I stumbled back into art whilst studying web design at college. Part of studying web design calls for the use of source material and complementary colour’s. Once I’d started working with my source material it wasn’t long before I started to paint again.
I like to think of my work as Pop art with detail. Over the past few years I’ve painted many popular icons but more recently I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to paint and sell original work.
My medium of choice is currently acrylics. I favour these because they give me the texture of oils, without the lengthy drying time, I have to start and finish most painting’s in one sitting! This usually means that I will paint for up to 16 hours at a time. Thankfully my love of music and a vast selection of cd’s help keep me going all day. That and lot’s of strong, black coffee!
I like to work in shades of a particular colour. I find shades easier on the eyes, giving a generally softer look to my work.
I’m an avid watcher of people. I love the art of body language and the expressions people make. This I try to capture in my original work. For me the painting has to say something, which I hope mine do.
I currently sell my work on line here, and in a number of galleries in the Northwest of England, as well as through an art dealership based in the Notting Hill area of London, which, incidentally recently featured my work in the Daily Telegraph’s Saturday magazine
I’m happy to undertake commissions, be it portraiture or maybe something you’ve seen somewhere else and have an image of. I’m always more than happy to discuss your requirements. So please feel free to drop me a line or give me a call.
